Abstract
By far the largest part of this volume deals with the scientific "foundations of media education". In view of teachers who feel compelled to include the mass media as a subject of instruction in their pedagogical activities, in addition to other current, extracurricular impulses, it may be justified to outline in a separate chapter how these scientific foundations can be implemented in school practice. The following presentation attempts to show, on the basis of the proposals available to date, how media education can be practised concretely in the classroom. It is important to bear in mind that the project "Media Education of the Canton of Zurich" (MP/ZH) should by no means be regarded as a closed system. It is not only the media offerings themselves that are constantly changing; the scientific foundations also require constant review and supplementation by newly produced research results. In this respect, the chapter on the application of media education in schools must be continued.
