Abstract
To describe the current situation of media education, a metaphor by the philosopher Hans Blumenberg suggests itself, with which he characterises the tradition of Western thought as a sea voyage. If one follows this idea, another metaphor suggests itself: the image of Odysseus on his ship journey when he encounters the Sirens.
