Abstract

Community radios are gaining new importance in the multicultural society, especially for minority and migrant groups who are largely denied access to traditional media. Linguistic diversity and multilingual broadcasts characterise the programmes of community radios in urban environments. Based on my own experiences from my involvement with free radios in German-speaking countries, I investigated the training aspects of community radios in France, Ireland and Switzerland as part of my diploma thesis.
