Abstract

Digital media are increasingly becoming part of today's lifeworlds, changing or reshaping everyday forms of communication. This process of mediatisation of society is described by Friedrich Krotz as a meta-process triggered by the technical institutions within which people communicate today. Media thus become part of a specific cultural epoch by being integrated in everyday life and society in a specific way (cf. Krotz 2007: 37).
