Abstract
In 2013, asking about the importance of media education and the use of digital media in schools does not seem to be up to date at first. Digital media have been everywhere for a long time, a world without media is no longer conceivable. The teaching of media competence and media education should play a special role in schools; it should be present and used in all subjects and school levels. In the best case, media are given a (meaningful) guiding framework by the educator, the teacher.
