Abstract
Studies on media use, such as the ARD/ZDF online studies and the D21 Digital Index, show that an increasingly large proportion of the German population are so-called online users and use the internet at least occasionally. At the same time, the increasing differentiation in the types of use and content surveyed makes it clear that the development of media technologies has progressed to such an extent that applications are available for different contexts and areas of activity that can be used flexibly by means of mobile, multifunctional end devices and a corresponding infrastructure.
