Abstract
This paper is a fundamental examination of the concept of educational standards as it has developed in the field of educational science in recent years. The critical examination identifies strengths and weaknesses and attempts to formulate considerations for educational standards in media education from this perspective. In particular, it also discusses what educational standards mean for a teaching area that is integrated into traditional school subjects as a cross-sectional area.
