Abstract
The importance of media literacy in a world shaped by the media is now hardly disputed, even if there are still national and international discussions about the understanding of the term media literacy (cf. e.g. Richardson 2007; Schorb 2009). Media literacy has been considered an important competence in all areas of education and training for several years. The role of schools in the teaching of media literacy has been addressed early on and has become the focus of academic interest.
