Abstract

The largest of the computer networks, the Internet, is taking on an increasingly important role in education as an information and communication space. Educational initiatives are trying to harness the classic communication services of the Internet for virtual learning environments. These include electronic mail for sending electronic letters; news for sending public articles; ftp for transferring and publishing programmes and other files; chats are characterised by synchronous interactivity and the current presence of the interlocutors.1
