Abstract

E-learning and knowledge management are not terms that have a genuine media pedagogical root. Rather, both are repeatedly suspected of being mere fads, both usually attract other disciplines more than media education and have found their way from practice into science rather than vice versa. However, if one strips "e-learning" and "knowledge management" of their modern-sounding or English-language components in a first step, one ends up with learning (and teaching) with (new) media as well as the (media-supported) handling of knowledge. Knowledge, learning and media are indeed terms that can be interpreted and used in terms of media pedagogy, so that they will serve at the beginning of this article to situate e-learning and knowledge management in terms of media pedagogy.
