Abstract

In this paper I present how we are designing a net-based learning environment for a distance learning course on "Media and Information Technologies in Education" in a cooperative network. The project is supported by two working groups at the University of Paderborn (general didactics and media education, didactics of computer science) and one working group at the Distance Learning University of Hagen (theory of school and teaching). I share the project management with Horst Dichanz, Bardo Herzig and Johannes Magenheim. The distance learning programme is based on developments in teacher training in the field of new media as elaborated within the framework of the initiative "Bildungswege in der Informationsgesellschaft (BIG)" (cf. among others Tulodziecki/Moll/Gallasch 2001). The BIG initiative - started in 1995 - can be traced back to the Bertelsmann Foundation and Heinz Nixdorf Foundation. The current project work is funded by the "e-nitiative.nrw.Netzwerk für Bildung".
