Abstract

The pedagogical discussion of media is characterised by questions of values. The influence of media on the development of a value consciousness in children is discussed in the context of computer games, for example. There are calls for media production to take more account of the aspect of imparting values (cf. Godina 2011: 19). Social networks on the internet are also addressed in the question of the extent to which the internet realises the value of authentic relationships or the extent to which "virtual friends" or "virtual communities" actually represent a form of friendship or community (cf. Prosser/Ward 2000). Posts on social networks can hurt, humiliate and expose members.
