Abstract

The increasing introduction of e-learning into higher education institutions is accompanied by both expectations and hopes. Thus, from the perspective of higher education didactics, support for a change in the culture of teaching and learning is ideally expected for the area of teaching, which primarily means a stronger orientation towards the learner in the design of learning processes (with digital media) in the sense of a "shift from teaching to learning" (cf. Welbers/Gaus 2005). Consequently, changes in the institutional framework conditions would be necessary here, which should take into account all phases of lifelong studying and learning in the form of a "student lifecycle" (cf. Schulmeister 2007) and enable changed teaching and learning.
