Abstract
Since the 1980ies digital media successively became a substantial part of Media Education. Besides the traditional relations to audio-visual and print media, the computer and later the Internet became central issues in Media Education and Media Didactics. The development of digital media led to attempts to introduce basic education in information and communications technology (ICT) in schools in the 1990ies. This raised various problems e.g. a relatively strong orientation towards economic interests, and a significant focus on the use of software applications. Media Education has long criticised this narrowing as basic education in ICT (and connected «equipment attacks») hardly acknowledges pedagogical tasks…References
