Abstract

Young people need role models to ensure that they can navigate the World Wide Web safely and master the challenges posed by digitization and mobile technologies. Role models to whom they ascribe media usage competence on the one hand and to whom they can openly respond and trust on the other. Professionals youth workers can play this important role here, as they are structurally well qualified, often interact with young people on social media platforms and are familiar with their everyday life.
