Abstract
After two years of online events, the conference of «Junges Forum für Medien und Hochschulentwicklung» (Young Forum for Media and Higher Education Development) returned to a face-to-face format in 2023. The event was entitled «Tension field of digital competence» and was able to highlight a variety of perspectives on the topic from academic practice. The Learning Lab (Chair of Media Didactics and Knowledge Management of the Faculty of Education) at the University of Duisburg-Essen organized the conference with a special focus on social exchange and networking between the participating young academics. Despite a relatively low number of participants compared to previous online events, the JFMH Conference 2023 successfully addressed the goal of networking through a variety of different formats.
