Abstract

Media pedagogical research questions can not only be addressed with the methodology of empirical-analytical research or through normative-reflexive approaches. The focus of this article is on a design-oriented approach, which is of particular importance for media education and media didactics when it is concerned with the design of media and media environments with the aim of stimulating learning, development and education. Educational science is constituted by the relationship between different research approaches. In the following article, design-oriented educational research is positioned in this relationship of different research approaches. The question is how design statements can be generated that are not only "tips from practice", but also contain findings based on methodically designed research. To this end, a systematisation of designs for design-oriented educational research is proposed and explained on the basis of a research project from the field of media didactics.
