Media, as is prominently emphasised by the meta-process of mediatisation, are driving social change and have permeated everyday life. Mediality has inscribed itself into human thought and action and transformed it through digitalisation. Against the background of this social diagnosis, the relationship between media and pedagogy appears to be an all-encompassing and now indissoluble one, which is reflected not only in media pedagogy, but also in other approaches to academic pedagogy. This anthology therefore brings together various pedagogical approaches to media, examines them from the perspective of both reflection and action science and relates them exemplarily to the fields of media pedagogy, educational science, adult education and philosophy. The anthology is also a commemorative publication and was launched on the occasion of the retirement of Prof Dr Johannes Fromme, who headed the Chair of Media and Adult Education at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The book is primarily aimed at researchers in the fields of media education and adult education as well as students on educational science and media-related degree programmes.
